Why We Need a Catholic Middle School
The decision to build a dedicated Catholic middle school is a strategic and essential step for the future of Catholic education in Grand Forks. Currently, our elementary schools provide an exceptional foundation, but a gap exists for our students as they transition into their crucial adolescent years.

    A Seamless Faith Journey
    • It ensures a continuous, Christ-centered educational experience from elementary through the middle school years within our All Saints Catholic Schools Network, preventing a disruptive transition to non-Catholic environments during a highly formative period.
    Virtue Development
    • Middle school students have unique academic, social, spiritual, and physical needs. A dedicated campus allows for specialized programs, curriculum, and pastoral care precisely tailored to guide them through adolescence. This environment will intentionally cultivate Catholic virtues such as prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance, alongside the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity. By integrating virtue formation into daily life and curriculum, we will nurture moral reasoning, character development, and equip our students to make wise, virtuous choices in an increasingly complex world.
    The Sacramental Life
    • A core mission of our middle school experience will be a focus on the sacramental life of our students. A Catholic middle school will provide opportunities for students to deepen their personal relationship with Christ through frequent participation in Mass, regular access to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, adoration, and a profound understanding of the Eucharist as the source and summit of our faith. Retreats, prayer services, and dedicated catechesis will foster a living appreciation for these gifts, preparing them to fully engage in the life of the Church.
    A Stronger Community Identity
    • The future St. Carlo Acutis Middle School will serve as a vibrant educational environment where students from both Holy Family-St. Mary's and St. Michael's can unite, building a larger, cohesive Catholic youth community that strengthens bonds and fosters lasting friendships rooted in shared faith.
